Table Rasa, Iceland , Eyrarbakki, 2018 Saga residency back
Table Rasa was a short process in which I engaged in cooking with artist-clown-chef Arnþór Þórsteinsson , who was cooking for the participants the whole residency period. He wanted to use food visually and I wanted to learn he’s cooking secrets a bit, talk about composting in iceland and also just spend the day doing something for the community. We collaborated for one day and created this Table - where the participants of the residency were invited to share the moment with the raw ingredients, the sauces and self baked breads we had made. There was a moment of collectively spreading the foods on the clean and empty table, with the idea of cherising the beauty of the nature and food - and then eating it together. Some controversial emotions and elements arose in the process and it created a conversation of class, poverty, abundance and everyone’s varying relationship to food.
